100% GREEN ELECTRICITY

SAINT-GOBAIN NORDIC BUSINESSES SWITCH TO 100% GREEN ELECTRICITY

Sustainability is high on the agenda for Saint-Gobain, and from January 1st Saint-Gobain businesses in the Nordic region switch to green electricity.

With a goal to provide customers with the best and most sustainable solutions for green buildings, Saint-Gobain has set an objective to reduce its environmental impact – in particular in terms of carbon footprint. Specifically, the Saint-Gobain Group is working on reducing its CO2 emissions by 20 %*, and in this context, the switch to renewable electricity in the Nordic region is a natural step.

- I am thrilled that we now have the opportunity to switching to Green Electricity. We estimate that the switch paves the way for a reduction of the impact by approximately 40 000 Tons of CO2, which is equivalent to 40 000 roundtrips Stockholm-NY, says Camille Fabre, Sustainability Director Saint-Gobain Nordic and Baltic.

The switch to green electricity also means that Saint-Gobain businesses will now even more than previously be delivering products with a reduced embodied carbon, which contribute to more sustainable buildings such as certified LEED, BREEAM or DGNB buildings.

Switching to green electricity is just one of many steps Saint-Gobain is taking to develop more sustainable solutions. Among other the Group’s Eco-Innovation approach focuses on improving and inventing tomorrow’s solutions, with a reduced impact and added sustainability benefits.
