A renown multi-country group from the food sector is searching for a new General Manager to supervise its operations and boost its business in Denmark. It has been present in Denmark for more than 15 years and distributes a broad portfolio composed of both own and partner brands. This position offers an entrepreneurial experience and requires both business development and general management capacities. The ideal candidate has a relevant background in the food industry and proven track records in growing a business.

The position is located in the Greater Copenhagen.


Reporting to the International General Manager located abroad, you will be responsible and accountable for the commercial operations and overall business across Denmark with P&L responsibility. You will develop relevant strategy and vision to strengthen our position on the Danish market in accordance with the group general policies. You will be the first driver for the business development of the local entity and for its value creation, while securing sound management of the local entity and team (around 10 persons).

In addition to your strategic input, your operational scope will encompass:   

Developing the local entity

  • With the support of the commercial team, monitor the Danish market, identify business opportunities, and establish relevant partnerships. 
  • Constantly monitor the entity’s financial health and commercial and industrial performances and be able to spot potential shortfalls and take immediate relevant actions to remedy the situation.

Reporting and commitment towards the group

  • Be the gatekeeper of the partnerships with the other internal entities and partners companies and with the group’s holding entity (respect of workings principles, implementation of group’s policies, etc.).
  • Together with the group’s management team, represent the local entity and the group towards external stakeholders (officials, banking partners, etc.).

Ensuring team commitment

  • Build a strong local management team and establish with them the action plans enabling the deployment of the vision for the entity and the achievement of the set targets.
  • Secure a trust and transparency climate, generating a healthy and stimulating work environment, that help retain employees.
  • Be responsible for the proper implementation of the group's human resources policies, via the performance and development processes.


The ideal candidate has a minimum of 15 years of experience at manufacturers in the FMCG sector, with proven track records in sales and marketing. He/she would also have:

  • Business acumen, a strategic look, and a “hands-on” approach.
  • A developer/entrepreneur mindset.
  • Very good communication and networking skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making, leadership, and strong team management capacities.
  • A good understanding of the various business development levers of a company, across all departments (commercial, financial, marketing, industrial, supply chain, IT, HR).
  • Proven capacities to negotiate with various external stakeholders.
  • Full proficiency in Danish and in English.  
  • Experience working in an international group would be a plus.
  • Exemplarity and transparency are part of his/her ethic.
