Headquarters Accountant - EuroMed Rights

EuroMed Rights is looking for a dynamic, dedicated, and experienced Headquarters Accountant to join its international finance team

Do you want to make a difference and take an essential role in an international human rights NGO? EuroMed Rights is looking for a dynamic, dedicated, and experienced Headquarters Accountant to join its international finance team and its Copenhagen office.

About us

EuroMed Rights is one of the biggest and most active networks of human rights organisations in the Euro-Mediterranean region (Europe, Middle East and North Africa). Operating under Danish law since our creation in 1997, we currently encompass 70 organisations from 30 countries. We have offices in Copenhagen (headquarters), Tunis, and Brussels. The EuroMed Right’s secretariat gathers 50 employees (11 in Copenhagen, 7 in the finance department). Our annual budget amounts to around 4 million euros.

Responsibilities and main tasks

You will report to the CFO and will supervise the performance of local accountants in Tunis and Brussels. You will be responsible for all bookkeeping and accounting matters in Navision accounting system, incl. payroll accounting, consolidation and monitoring financial records. Your role is key to allow proper management of our programs and provide compliant reports to our donors. Your main tasks will consist in:

Coordination and support bookkeeping by EuroMed Rights offices

  • Coach and support local accountants in Tunis and Brussels offices in their daily duties.
  • Facilitate consolidation and prepare periodic reconciliations and audit files.
  • Maintain our Navision system.

Bookkeeping and accounting for Copenhagen office

  • Check accuracy of supporting documentation.
  • Process monthly payroll for Copenhagen office.
  • Process payments from the headquarters and book headquarters bookkeeping entries.


  • Prepare management accounts and analysis.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity forecast.

Other tasks

  • Participate in budgeting process and updating financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain relations withs service providers and ensure relevant administration.

Being part of our small organization also offers the possibility of breaking the routine and dealing with a diversity of occasional tasks in relation to finance and administration. 

What we expect from you

  • Relevant qualification and at least 5 years of work experience as an accountant.
  • Experienced user of Excel – including pivot tables and look up formulas.
  • Excellent command in oral and written English, good proficiency in Danish. French is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as facilitation and technical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise tasks.
  • Motivated, organised and a self-starter.
  • Experience with Danish payroll accounting and knowledge of HR regulations in Denmark are assets.
  • Knowledge of accounting ERP system application (preferably Navision).
