The story of Renault starts in Paris in 1898 with a technological turning-point: the first gear box. Literally, this invention put the car industry at top gear. Ever since, Renault’s motivation and inspiration has been the innovation within technology and design based on man’s need for mobility. Renault’s history in motoring started with the victory in the first Grand Prix in 1906. Today Renault is a large-scale winning motor constructor on the Formula 1 circuits all over the world.
After 25 years with Volvo as responsible for the imports to the Northern countries, since 2008 Renault in Denmark has been a factory-owned importer. Since then, Renault in Denmark has advanced by leaps and bounds, and from a place as the 16th best-selling brand in Denmark Renault is now the 7th best-selling brand. Renault Denmark has twice (in 2011 and 2013) been chosen as Car Importer of the Year by the trade association Dansk Automobilforhandler Forening.
