360 Lawfirm: New Employment Certificate Act
On July 1, 2023, the new Employment Certificate Act came into force, replacing existing legislation:
Expanding Coverage
The new act applies to employees employed both before and after July 1, 2023. Furthermore, you should be aware that the new rules apply to employees who work an average of 3+ hours per week over a reference period of 4 consecutive weeks, resulting in more employees being covered by the act.
New Conditions
For local employees, a valid employment certificate must now be given within 7 days of the first day of work, and for seconded employees, you must ensure the employee is given the information prior to leaving their home country.
